My first app without any instruction

I have made my first app without any directions to follow. It is called Nutritional Value comparer. When it first loads up it says a brief introduction than asks whether you want to choose from one of my pre-set values to compare to or your own values. If they choose my presets they then have to select 1-4 but if they choose their own they have to input their own(keep in mind this is a console app). It was an exetremely simple app but still took me some time to figure everything out. I really enjoyed making it.

here is a link if you wanna download it and play with it yourself

My first semester as an IT student at MATC

I took 3/4 required classes for my first semester at MATC. IT Dev 110, IT Dev 117 and IT 107.  Of all three of these IT Dev 110 is by far my favorite and most fun class. In this class you actually code and do apps and see how stuff works instead of just boring talking and talking In second place comes IT Dev 117 which is boring but still keeps me thinking. You end up doing logic behind coding not really coding. Its all about pseudo code(english-like code) and flowcharts. Its to get you looking at coding from more than just a straight code but more of a design way. Last of all is IT 107. I really dislike this class. It has boring content and is a drag to do the assignments. It really has no correlation to coding or IT. It is more about promoting yourself as someone in the IT field. Its really complicated that they put this as a first semester class because if you didn't have any prior knowledge of coding, how do you promote yourself when you have nothing to show?  I really feel this class should be moved back a bit because it just doesn't make sense.

Xbox and IGN

Xbox and IGN are both pretty well know things if you are into entertainment. They both use Twitter and Facebook but both post the same exact content on Twitter and Facebook. They also don't reply on either of them. However Xbox has a Xbox support twitter that does respond to you. IGN has pretty similar amount of followers/likes on both of their accounts but Xbox has over 3x as many likes on Facebook than followers on twitter. Xbox posts seems to stick to advertising their content such as deals, and trailers. IGN posts more about TV shows, DLCs, updates, and strategies. Both post pretty frequently for being companies having several posts every day. Both seem to try to target very similar groups. From 13-35 because that is the generation that grew up around entertainment and is more open to spending time and money watching, and playing.
They both have direct support from their websites and Xbox has it from their twitter. IGN doesn't have any social media support. Overall I feel both are very effective for what they are being used for. I think they are using them to boost their already big presence by advertising themselves.

Why I am at MATC

Ever since I was little I remember playing on computers. I always loved doing stuff on computers and playing around with them. As of yet I have to get a job. I choose IT Web and Software development because it is a program that greatly interests me and I could see myself liking. Choosing MATC was a very easy choice it has a good IT program and it is very affordable.
